In our constant interaction with clothing, building a sustainable wardrobe becomes imperative to minimize our environmental footprint. This ethos inspired our brand, Amazhiyu. While not a perfect solution to global challenges, Amazhiyu prioritizes plant-based fibers and values human craftsmanship.
Amazhiyu specializes in garments made from plant fiber fabrics like linen and cotton gauze. Linen, known for its moisture absorption and breathability, ensures comfort year-round: keeping cool in summer and retaining warmth in winter without trapping moisture. Renowned for its durability, linen clothing lasts significantly longer than conventional fabrics—up to 5-7 times.
Cotton gauze, on the other hand, is a lightweight, airy fabric known for its absorbency and minimal wrinkling. It's particularly suitable for warmer seasons due to its breathability and delicate texture.
IMPORTANT
Linen's natural tendency to wrinkle is part of its appeal—emphasizing authenticity. We advise against ironing; if necessary, use low heat on slightly damp linen. Although pre-shrunk, expect minimal shrinkage (~3%) after the first wash. Note that colors may appear differently based on display settings. A margin of error (0.5 - 1 inch) in measurements is typical due to varying methods. Light colors, like white, may be somewhat see-through. If you prioritize softness, note that linen is not as soft as cotton.
Clothes Care
Machine Wash:
- Separate linen from other fabrics (white, dark, colored).
- Wash in lukewarm water (<40°C/104°F) to prevent up to 10% shrinkage.
- Use a gentle cycle with mild detergent; avoid bleach.
Hand Wash:
- Fill a container with lukewarm water and mild detergent.
- Submerge the linen garment, soak for 10 minutes, gently swish, and rinse thoroughly without wringing.
- Hang to dry.
